The city Corporation has urged online food delivery services also to follow the green protocol and avoid the use of disposable plates.
Mayor V.K. Prashant said here on Monday that a meeting of service providers would be called soon to discuss the issue. He was inaugurating a material recovery facility and aerobic bins at the Beemappally ward.
“We have been able to reduce the amount of waste in the city due to the awareness drives and legal action as part of implementing the green protocol. All the major events in the city follow the protocol,” he said.
The community aerobic bin was installed at the Armed Reserve Police Camp in Nandavanam on January 12. The aerobic bin at the Journalist colony in Kudappanakkunnu will be inaugurated on January 13, while the resource recovery centre and aerobic bins at Manacaud will be inaugurated on January 21. The cloth bag making unit in Kunnanpara will be launched on January 17. The city Corporation’s calender for periodic non biodegradable waste collection and other online services are now available in the Smart Trivandrum mobile application.
