Kancheepuram police rescue girl abducted by man

CHENNAI: The Kancheepuram police on Tuesday morning rescued a two-year-old-girl who went missing from near Madurantakam more than three months ago. They arrested a man who abducted the girl to give her to a childless friend.

Harini, daughter of Venkatesan and Kaliamma, went missing on September 15. The family lived a nomadic life selling beads and living on pavements. The child went missing while they were sleeping near the Anaicut police station.


The police got information that that the girl was in Kolkata. A police team went to Kolkata, but in vain.


On Tuesday morning, police traced the girl to Thiruporur.


She was kidnapped by a man identified as Prakash. Preliminary inquiries revealed that Prakash abducted the girl to give her to a friend who was married and childless. Police handed the girl over to her parents and arrested Prakash.
