A meeting of the task force of Haritha Keralam Mission, chaired by District Collector A.R. Ajayakumar, decided to declare all tourism destinations in the district plastic-free.
District Tourism Promotion Council would be directed to ban plastic in all tourism destinations in the district, Mr. Ajayakumar said after the meeting.
Vehicular rally
‘Haritha Yanam,’ a three-day vehicular rally, would be organised in the district from January 13 to January 16 as part of it, he said .
The meeting decided to organise two district-level workshops on January 21 and January 27 as a part of restoring 16 rivulets in the district. ‘Jala sangamam,’ a State-level workshop, will be organised in the first week of February.
The meet reviewed the progress of preparing watershed master plans.
It decided to organise various programmes to restore all tributaries of the Kabani with the support of the public and officials of various departments.
Soil Conservation and Minor Irrigation Departments would draft an action plan for the purpose.
Rainwater harvesting
The meeting also constituted a committee for the execution of ‘Haritha Bhavanam,’ a project aimed at promoting rainwater harvesting and organic vegetable cultivation among marginal farmers in the district.
