The Hulimavu police are on the lookout for a gang of three, who allegedly lured a 24-year-old mechanic through an escort service before abducting and robbing him on Friday night.

The victim, Subramanya, a resident of Konanakunte, befriended Preetham Gowda on a social networking platform on December 31. Preetham offered to connect him with an escort service and asked him to meet him near a mall on Bannerghatta Road on Friday.

Subramanya reached the spot and shared his location with Preetham. A few minutes later, three men in a rental car approached him and threatened to foist a police complaint accusing him of abduction and rape. They demanded ₹50,000 for not filing a complaint.

Subramanya took the accused to his house and paid ₹2,000 and handed over a gold chain worth ₹10,000, but the trio demanded more money. With no money left, Subramanya called his friend Ganapathy and sought his help. Ganapathy asked Subramanya to come near a place in Konanakunte.

Subramanya, along with the accused, reached the place.

Ganapathy, after hearing the plight of his friend, had alerted the police. Sensing trouble, the trio fled leaving Subramanya behind. Subramanya later went to Hulimavu police and filed a complaint.

Based on the complaint, the police charged the accused for extortion, and efforts are on to track them down.
