LUCKNOW: After four months, city's air quality showed some improvement on Monday as the AQI recorded the pollution levels as 'moderate'.
The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) reported an AQI of 183 for Lucknow which falls in the 'moderate' category.
It was in August when the city's AQI was last recorded as moderate.
On January 1, Lucknow's AQI touched the 'severe' mark and was recorded as high as 406. A day before, AQI was 366 which falls in the 'very poor' category.
The sudden drop in pollution levels was attributed to dry winds with increased velocity. "Low humidity was as important a factor as sporadic rains," said Dhruv Sen Singh, air quality monitoring director at Lucknow University.
