Oil spill causes major traffic jam in Thane

An oil spill from a car at 5.30 p.m. on Sunday led to a traffic jam on Ghodbunder Road for two hours. Traffic snarls were witnessed from the Anand Nagar to Kasarvadavli signals, a distance of 2.1 km, Thane Municipal Corporation officials said.

Thane Rural Disaster Management Cell, fire brigade and police officials reached the spot with one fire engine, two rescue vehicles and one truck load of soil from IRB Infrastructure Developers Ltd., which manages the toll road.

The congestion lasted for two hours till the soil was spread along the road up to Kasarvadavli. No injuries were reported.
