Golden Globes 2019: Highlights

Bohemian Rhapsody wins Best Motion Picture - Drama award.

Rami Malek wins the Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture - Drama award for his role in Bohemian Rhapsody. This is Malek's first Golden Globe win. He thanked late Queen frontman Freddie Mercury for providing the role of a lifetime.

Glenn Close wins Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture - Drama for her role in The Wife. In her acceptance speech, Close thanked her "category sisters" including Lady Gaga and Nicole Kidman. She also remarked that women absolutely "have to find personal fulfillment."

Green Book win Best Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy award. In his acceptance speech, director Peter Farrelly said, "This story, when I heard it, gave me hope, and I wanted to share that hope with you. We're still living in divided times, perhaps more than ever."

Olivia Colman wins Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy award for her role in The Favourite. Accepting the award, the actor said, "I'm not going to cry because my entire table will sit and laugh at me. I've been crying all evening."

The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story wins Best Television Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television award. The first installment of American Crime Story, The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story, took home the same award in 2015.

The Kominsky Method wins the Best Television Series - Musical or Comedy award. Michael Douglas won the Best Actor, TV Series, Musical or Comedy award for his performance in the Netflix show.

Rachel Brosnahan wins the Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series - Musical or Comedy award for her role in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.

Alfonso Cuarón wins Best Director - Motion Picture award for Roma. In 2014, Cuaron won a Best Director Golden Globe award for Gravity. Roma also won the Best Motion Picture - Foreign Language award today.

Darren Criss wins Best Performance by an Actor in a Limited Series or a Motion Picture Made for Television award for his role in The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story. Criss also won an Emmy for playing serial killer Andrew Cunanan on the FX series.

Netflix's Roma (Mexico) wins Best Motion Picture - Foreign Language award.

Christian Bale wins the Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy award for his role in Vice. This is Bale's second Golden Globe award. He previously won an award for The Fighter in 2011.

Patricia Clarkson wins the Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Series, Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television award for her role in Sharp Objects.

Nick Vallelonga, Brian Currie and Peter Farrelly won the Best Screenplay - Motion Picture award for Green Book.

Mahershala Ali wins Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in Any Motion Picture award for Green Book.

Sandra Oh wins Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series - Drama award for Killing Eve.

Regina King wins Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in Any Motion Picture award for If Beale Street Could Talk.

Lady Gaga, Mark Ronson, Anthony Rossomando and Andrew Wyatt win Best Original Song - Motion Picture award for A Star Is Born song "Shallow".

Justin Hurwitz win the Best Original Score - Motion Picture award for First Man.

Golden Globes 2019 hosts Sandra Oh and Andy Samberg mention the Oscar host controversy in their opening monologue. Oh and Samberg remark that they are hosting Globes as they are the only celebrities who have not tweeted something controversial.

Patricia Arquette takes home the Best Performance by an Actress in a Limited Series or a Motion Picture Made for Television award for her performance in Escape at Dannemora.

Ben Whishaw wins Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Series, Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television award for his performance in A Very English Scandal.

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse wins the Best Motion Picture Animated award.

FX show The Americans takes home the Best Series (Drama) award.

Richard Madden wins the Best Actor, TV Series, Drama award for his performance in BBC show Bodyguard.

Michael Douglas wins the Best Actor, TV Series, Musical or Comedy award for his performance in Netflix's The Kominsky Method.

While Bradley Cooper, Willem Dafoe, Lucas Hedges, Rami Malek and John David Washington will vie for the Best Actor (Drama) award, Christian Bale, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Viggo Mortensen, Robert Redford and John C. Reilly are competing for the Best Actor (Comedy or Musical) award.

While Glenn Close, Lady Gaga, Nicole Kidman, Melissa McCarthy, Rosamund Pike will vie for the Best Actress (Drama) award, Emily Blunt, Olivia Colman, Elsie Fisher, Charlize Theron and Constance Wu are competing for the Best Actress (Comedy or Musical) award. 

While Black Panther, BlacKkKlansman, Bohemian Rhapsody, If Beale Street Could Talk and A Star Is Born will vie for the Best Drama award, Crazy Rich Asians, The Favourite, Green Book, Mary Poppins Returns and Vice are competing for the Best Comedy or Musical award.
