Ex-Nissan chairman Ghosn's lawyers to give news conference Tuesday - FCCJ

(Reuters) - Lawyers of ousted Motor Co Ltd are scheduled to give a conference on Tuesday, the (FCCJ) said on its website on Monday, their first such public appearance.

The three lawyers, headed by Motonari Otsuru, will speak at the hours after Ghosn makes his first public appearance in seven weeks at a court after he requested an open hearing to hear the reason for his continued detention.

Ghosn's arrest has put Japan's criminal justice system under international scrutiny and sparked criticism for some of its practices, including keeping suspects in detention for long periods and prohibiting defence lawyers from being present during interrogations, which can last eight hours a day.

The lawyers' conference will be at 3:00 p.m. local time (0600 GMT), the said. Otsuru's office confirmed to that the conference will take place but could not give further details.
