Ahmedabad cyber cell issues notices to 12 online shopping portals

AHMEDABAD: The city cyber cell will keep a hawk’s eye on internal online shopping portals this Uttarayan. On Monday, the city cyber cell has issued notices to 12 online shopping portals to stop selling Chinese kite spools, nylon manja, tukkal and other kite flying related items prohibited by the law.

The deputy commissioner of police of cyber cell Rajdeepsinh Jhala said after the notification of banning such items during Uttarayan was issued by the city police commissioner they were scanning online shopping portals who still used to sell prohibited items.




“We have sent notices to 12 such online portals and asked them to stop selling such items or face legal action of violating the notification of city police commissioner” he said.


DCP Jhala said they would be monitoring social media for online buyers also. "If they are found using such prohibited items during Uttarayan, they will have to face legal consequences" he added.


In a tweet, Ahmedabad city police has warned importing, selling, stocking and use of Tukkal (string lamps), Chinese manja, nylon kite flying thread along with other manja harmful to human and bird lives are banned.
