HYDERABAD: Scores of students appeared for online Joint Entrance Examination Main (JEE Main) on Sunday at various centres. For the first time, the National Testing Agency (NTA) is conducting the exam, which will be held between January 6 and 20.
No formal dress code has been suggested by NTA this year. The CBSE, which used to conduct the exam until 2018, used to allow only half-sleeves and loose clothes for the test. This is also the first-time that the exam is being held in winter.
JEE Mains will be conducted twice this year, in January and April, in two sessions. The results for the exam conducted in January are expected to be released by January 31 and applications for the test, which will be invited in April, will be called for in February. Results of the second attempt are expected to be released by April 30.
Besides a printout of the admit card and a passport size photo, candidates must carry an original copy and photocopy of their ID proof, which should also have a photo of the candidate, such as PAN card, driving licence, voter ID card, passport, Aadhaar card, etc. for the examination. Over 9.5 lakh candidates have registered for the exam this year, of which about one lakh students are from Telangana.
