Rush at temples on shanichari amavasya; maha arti organised
Chronicle Reporter, Bhopal, Devotees began pouring into the city temples to observe the first shanichari amavasya of the year and offered sesame (til), gur, oil, iron nails, urad and black cloth to deity Shani.
Shani temples of the city had been decorated ahead of shanichari amavsya. Abhishek of deity Shani was performed on Saturday at Shani temples.Ritual of ‘tel abhishek’ was performed at the 51 feet tall statue of deity Shani at Nehru Nagar. Dharmadhikari priest Pandit Gajendra Shastri said that devotees performed maha abhishek of Shani with milk, curd, honey, sugar and sesame.
He said Shanichari Amavasya is very much significant for those suffering from Shani Dosha, Shani Sade Sati, or Dhaiya. Remedies performed on this day pacify all the Shani Doshas found in one’s Kundali (birth chart). Also, it ends all the troubles. Astrological remedies suggested on this day ward off all the evils caused by Shani.Priest Shastri said we all are familiar with the rage of Lord Shani; however, he is extremely affectionate too.
Doing special rituals on the day of Shanichari Amavasya is a way to get relief from Pitra Dosha.He said according to mythology, pleasures related to progeny get hampered if ancestors are unhappy. As a result, progress and prosperity of life decreases.
Shani mahaygya
Shani mahaygya was performed at Navgraha Shanidham. Public relations minister PC Shama performed the purna ahuti. Later 108 couples performed the maha aarti using 108 thaalis.
There was rush of devotees at other Shani temples of the city including New Market, Kamla Park, Board Office square, Arera Colony, Chhola etc. Gajendra Shastri said devotees offered the mustard oil to Lord shani Dev. He said there was a lot of enthusiasm an d religious fervour and devotees had to wait for hours to see Lord Shani.
