Nude protest in Delhi, Assam against Citizenship (amendment) Bill
Prabin Kalita | TNN | Jan 7, 2019, 13:50 ISTGUWAHATI: Youths and peasants of Assam staged nude protests in New Delhi and at Tinsukia in Assam against the Citizenship (amendment) bill, 2016.
On the day when the JPC on the Bill submitted its report in Lok Sabha, several members of the peasants' body, Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS), marched on the road leading to Parliament and shouted slogans against the Centre’s move to table the Bill in the Parliament. The protester have been arrested by the Parliament Street police.
Simultaneously, members of Asom Yuba Chatra Parishad also staged a similar nude protest against the Bill at Tinsukia in upper Assam.
All Assam Students Union and several organisations are observing Monday as black day. The North East Students’ Organisation (NESO), the umbrella group of student bodies of northeast has called for a northeast bandh against the Bill on Tuesday.
