New Delhi, A couple of days after the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) sleuths raided Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav’s party leaders and an IAS officer, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday lashed out at the Narendra Modi-led Centre, saying it’s time to throw out the dictatorial and undemocratic BJP’s regime.

Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter, Mr Kejriwal said, ‘In its last weeks in office, Modi govt shamelessly unleashing CBI on @yadavakhilesh is a reminder to all that we must not forget what Modi’s political opponents have faced during last five years. Time to throw out this dictatorial & undemocratic regime’.

The CBI on Saturday conducted raids at 14 different places in Uttar Pradesh and Delhi, including at the residence of senior IAS officer B Chandrakala, in connection with the mining scam in Bundelkhand region during the previous Samajwadi Party regime.

Former Uttar Pradesh chief minister and Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav on Sunday hit out at BJP for ‘showing its true colours’.

Mr Yadav could also come under the scanner of CBI and may face probe in an illegal mining case in the state.

The CBI was directed by the High Court on July 28, 2016, to probe illegal mining in the state, following which it had registered seven preliminary inquiries, of which two pertaining to Shamli and Kaushambi districts were converted into FIRs in 2017.

The searches of the agency took place on a day the Samajwadi Party and the Mayawati-led Bahujan Samaj Party gave contours of an electoral alliance, ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
