Boy suffers kick in the head from horse, flown to Brisbane hospital

A child kicked in the head by a horse on a rural Queensland property at the weekend has been flown to the Queensland Children's Hospital.

Family members told paramedics the primary school-aged boy had been leading a horse around a paddock when another horse standing nearby was startled and kicked the boy.

A rescue helicopter flew the boy from the property to Toowoomba Hospital just before 4pm on Sunday.

He was flown in a serious but stable condition.

Several hours later, the RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter was called back to the hospital to move the boy to the Queensland Children's Hospital for further care.

He was in a stable condition at the time of airlift to Brisbane.
