AHMEDABAD: in a mysterious incident which took place on Saturday night in Gomtipur, a widow, Shobna Hanvatkar, was allegedly attacked with a sharp-edged weapon on the head while she was in her home. Cops are trying to crack the mystery. Her son Shivam, 23, who is a first year BSc student and works as a tailor in a local ready-made garment factory has lodged a complaint. Shivam’s father had expired seven years ago due to illness.
According to the complaint lodged by Shivam, while he was sitting with his friends on Saturday night at the entrance of the society, at about 10.45pm his younger brother Shubham, 10, rushed in said “Mother has been hit’.
Police officials said when Shivan ran home with his friends he saw some water had spilled out of the water tank and could be seen in the bathroom. “His mother was lying unconscious with head injuries. She was first rushed to Shardaben hospital in an auto as the ambulance they called did not arrive in time. From there, she was taken to VS Hospital for further treatment,” said a police official.
Police sources said that the house is surrounded by some low-rise chawls and the terrace of the two-storied house is about 10-12 feet close to the chawl. “They also have a tenant named Bharat Rav who is staying with his family in the ground floor of the house. We are exploring every angle to crack the mystery,” said a senior police official.
Shubham, 10, had said that after hearing the cries, when he switched on the lights he had seen a man running towards the terrace.
