Kanaa hit screens on December 21.Kanaa, which was released on December 21, is still holding strong at the box office. Directed by debutant filmmaker Arunraja Kamaraj, the Aishwarya Rajesh starrer revolves around the life of an aspiring woman cricketer, who wants to carve a niche for herself in the international scene.
Kanaa marked the maiden production venture of actor Sivakarthikeyan. Following the success of the film, now talks are on to get it dubbed in Chinese. Sources say the idea for this was mooted by veteran actor Sathyaraj, who played Aishwarya Rajesh’s father in the film. Touted to be the first ever Tamil film to be made on women’s cricket, Kanaa has music by Dhibu Ninan Thomas. One may recall that Dangal also enjoyed a good run at the Chinese box office after a dubbed release.

"I lost my dad when I was 10. I saw him in Sathyaraj sir. My mom was happy because she told me I would get recognition for Kanaa. I could see so much happiness in her face. “Thank you press for all the fantastic reviews. We got only limited theaters initially, but gradually it increased through word-of-mouth. I did not know cricket, but the team was kind enough to cast me taking a huge risk. I learned the game after coming on board. Some girl walked up to me and asked if she could get the T shirt I was wearing. She said it was inspiring to just wear the Tee. That was the reach of the film. Arunraja Kamaraj and Sivakarthikeyan had immense trust in me. I think I have done justice to my role,” says actress Aishwarya Rajesh.
