NEW DELHI: The Gujarat government had cancelled the Lok Rakshak Dal (LRD) last month following the reports of paper leak.
According to State Police Recruitment Board chairman and additional director-general of police Vikas Sahay, the LRD exam for recruiting over 9,700 jawans, was held peacefully on Sunday.
As per the reports, out of 8.75 lakh, around 7.2 lakh candidates turned up for the examination on Sunday, January 6, 2019.
Earlier, the written test held on December 2, 2018 was cancelled after the paper was leaked.
The decision to hold the exam again in a foolproof manner without any glitches was taken at a government high-level meeting.
The cancellation of the test has cost 8.75 lakh candidates across the state untold misery and unnecessary expenditure for to-and-fro journey to the examination centres.
Sahay said Gujarat chief minister Vijay Rupani's earlier decision to provide free-of-cost ST buses to the candidates for to-and-fro journey to examination centres stood as before.
