He also said that liking Adhaar with Driving Licence will curb the chances of creating forged and duplicate licence.
This move will be implemented as a change in the ‘Motor Vehicle Act’ that has been pending in the Lower House.
As per sources, Supreme Court in its ruling on Aadhaar had said that it can be used for social welfare as well as legitimate state interest. The policy will be implemented in accordance with Supreme Court’s decision on the use of the ID by passing a special law in the Supreme Court.

The minister also said that in today’s scenario people who cause an accident, flew from the spot and create a duplicate licence. The duplicate licence obstructs the nabbing of such violators and they never get caught. After the linkage of Aadhaar, when such a person tries to create a duplicate licence, their name may change but the bio-metric and fingerprints will remain the same, hence helping authorities to track that the person already has a driving licence.
The linking of Aadhaar will ensure that no one will be able to forge documents. The use of biometric system will regulate the law making policy and reduce the creation of fraudulent documents. If initiated, the policy will bring about a pioneering change in the system.
The Law Minister had been a ardent advocate of Linking Adhaar with Driving Licence, and has at many times professed the idea of Linking Adhaar with DL. He had profusely said in his previous public speeches that Aadhaar is a safe and secure tool for good governance and empowerment.
