AMBALA: After receiving many complaints from Ambala residents, the district food and drugs administration (FDA) department on Saturday collected 10 samples of milk, jaggery and other edible items from various places across the city. The district FDA officer, Subhash Chander, visited various shops and factories to collect the samples.
“Acknowledging that some diseases are active in the state, we ordered officials to collect samples of food items from different places. We had received complaints that jaggery producers were using some chemicals, therefore I asked the officials to conduct raids,” said Haryana health minister Anil Vij.
“The samples were collected after receiving orders from the health minister. Samples of jaggery have been collected from Dhiman Cane Crusher, Avsed Ali Gur Kohlu, Bansal Cane Crusher, Shiv Shakti Cane Crusher of Nohni village and Khurshid Gur Kohlu in Khuda Kalan village. Similarly, milk samples have been collected from a dairy owner Naresh Kumar in Hardi village and Lucky Dairy in Saha. We have also collected samples of atta noodles, chocolate pastry and packaged juice,” the FDA officer said.
He added that the samples will now be sent for inspection to a laboratory in Karnal. “It will take 14 days for the lab to prepare a report. Further action will be taken only after considering the reports,” the official added.
