A special team of the city police has arrested three persons, including a minor boy, on the charge of murdering a 24-year-old man in his house at Khajapettai here recently.
The victim Savari Ayyappan was found murdered on January 3 with his neck slashed with a blade and his head smashed using a boulder. The Palakkarai police registered a case of murder and conducted probe.
A special team was formed on the instruction of the Commissioner of Police A. Amalraj to apprehend the killers. Based on information, the team picked up J. Chandru (25), a history-sheeter, Justin Christhuvaraj (19) and a minor boy and conducted inquiries with them.
During inquiry it came to light that the victim and Chandru had money-related fight between them. The trio reportedly confessed to the team that they went to the house of Savari Ayyappan when the latter was drunk and murdered him. The minor boy was sent to the Government Observation Home, while the other two were remanded, said a police press release.
