Dhanas house burgled of Rs 5 lakh jewellery, cash

CHANDIGARH: Burglars targeted a house in Dhanas on Friday and decamped with cash, gold and silver jewellery totally worth Rs 5 lakh.
The incident took place when the house owner had gone out to have lunch.
The Sarangpur police have registered a case against unknown persons and started investigation in the matter.
House owner Rahul Kumar, who works as a driver in the customs department, stated in his complaint that on Friday afternoon, he locked his house and went to a nearby eatery to have his lunch. When he returned after 20 minutes, he found the main door open and his house ransacked.
Her then informed his mother about the theft. When she came to the house, she found that one silver tagdi of around 110 gm, a gold ring weighing 50 gm, one gold tikka of 50 gm, a pair of silver anklets of 90 gm, silver bangles of 80 gm and cash of Rs 15,000 were missing.
Following this, they called up the police and informed them about the theft.
On reaching the spot, the cops recorded Rahul’s statement and registered a case under Section 380 (theft) of the IPC against the unknown miscreants. Police are now checking the CCTV footage of the nearby areas to identify the accused.
Police suspect that it could be the handy work of any of his neighbours who were aware about the jewellery and cash.
