Pune: Members of the underworld Tipu Pathan gang chased Nilesh Binavat (25), son of renowned Pune-based builder Shekhar Binavat. The chase was from Hande wadi to Hadapsar on a two-wheeler. Nilesh resides in Keshavanand bungalow at Handewadi and was on his way to Hadaspar for an appointment. The gangsters approached Nilesh’s Land Cruiser and fired four rounds at him. Fortunately, Nilesh used his presence of mind and drove straight to Hadapsar police station. The police rushed him to the nearest hospital immediately and are in the process of registering an offence at Wanowarie police station.
At the time of attack, Nilesh was driving through Mohammed wadi neighbourhood in Sayyed nagar. Tipu Pathan caught his eye. Pathan took offence to Nilesh looking him into the eye who questioned Nilesh. That led to an altercation and Nilesh was beaten mercilessly. Nilesh fled the spot and returned to Sayyed nagar with his friends to take on Pathan and his gang.
Grudging over the guts Nilesh and his friends showed, Pathan started firing on them, following which Nilesh and his friends fled the spot at Tarvade society in Hande wadi.
Pathan’s men followed Nilesh and fired at him constantly. Nilesh was saved because the bullets brushed past his body injuring him. To teach a lesson to the members of Pathan’s gang, Nilesh drove his vehicle straight to Hadapsar police station. Wanowarie police succeeded in arresting an aide of Pathan and began questioning him. Pathan, who is absconding, is a notorious gangster. He and his men are known history-sheeters.
