Nagpur: The six Metro coaches, which have been manufactured by China Railway Rolling Stock Corporation (CRRC), left Chennai port for the city on Saturday. They were shipped from China to Chennai.

MahaMetro officials had gone to Chennai and they inspected the coaches after unpacking them. They were then again packaged and sent to Nagpur by road.

MahaMetro will hold a ceremony in the city when they reach here.

These coaches will be used in commercial operation of Sitabuldi-Khapri and Sitabuldi-Hingna Road stretches, which is expected in March. More coaches are expected to reach the city from China by that time. At present MahaMetro has three coaches leased from Hyderabad Metro.

The design of the new coaches is same as that of the leased coaches. All the facilities provided in both are the same.
