NEW DELHI: The registrations for nursery admissions under the general category end on Monday. This time, 14 private schools were prohibited from accepting admissions after they failed to upload their criteria on DoE portal.
Before the registration process started on December 15, 2018, the schools were asked to upload their admission criteria, failing which the DoE had threatened of action. Close to 25 schools out of the 1,695 private schools had not uploaded their criteria.
A meeting was held by the DoE director and education officials on December 27, 2018. The minutes of the meeting read, “The 14 schools that are functional and have actually not uploaded admission criteria assuming they will get away with it must be issued orders in writing not to accept any entry-level admission for the session 2019-20.” These 14 schools are mostly small private schools located in the outer areas.
The other 11 schools of the 25 schools identified were issued show-cause notices for uploading the criteria late. “If their replies are justified, they should be allowed to accept nursery admissions, with a warning to act more responsibly in future,” it said.
By January 21, the schools have to submit the details of students who have applied and on February 4, the first list of selected candidates will be uploaded.
