Nagpur: Gadchiroli cops, as a part of the Maharashta police Raising Day function, organized ‘helmet rally’ on Friday to create awareness among the citizens highlighting it’s benefit and life-saving significance through posters and banners. It was one of the first such efforts undertaken by the district police.

The Gadchiroli police, which is otherwise known for their prowess to thwart Maoist movement, changed guard to spread awareness among the students regarding various traffic rules and regulation apart from the ill-effects of violating them which can be often a life-threatening mistake. The cops visited schools and colleges at the taluka headquarter of Gadchiroli for the interacting with the students.

While the awareness drive at the educational institutions were conducted at different places, the helmet rally covered the main arterial routes in Gadchiroli town after being flagged off by Addl SP Mahendra Pandit. Addl SP Mohit Garg, participating in the rally, led a sizeable group of 125-150 cops wearing white helmets in the rally. Apart from two officers of Addl SP ranks, personnel of various other ranks too were part of the rally.

The rally, which had started from the office of the SP Gadchiroli, returned after covering most of the major localities and roads in the town.
