On November 30, on the complaint of the survivor woman, the Ambala women police station registered a case under section 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 354-D (stalking), 376 (punishment for rape), 452 (house-trespass after preparation for hurt, assault or wrongful restraint), and 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code. In her complaint, the woman had alleged that "the accused had raped her in a government quarter near Loton Chowki, village Loton in the district on October 23, 2018, and had also threatened to kill her if she tells about the incident to anyone."
In another case, the same accused was earlier booked by Naraingarh women police station on November 8, on the complaint of the younger sister of the survivor for allegedly molesting her.
On November 30, the accused was first arrested by the Naraingarh women police station following the November 8 complaint, after which he was sent to Ambala Central Jail.
Now, the women police have taken the remand custody of the accused on production warrant in connection with the case of November 30.
Sub-inspector Davinder from women police station said, “The accused has been taken on two-day police remand and investigation into this case is ongoing.”
The father of the survivor while talking to TOI said, “My daughter was 16-year-old when she was raped in Naraingarh. The accused has been harassing her from a long time and because of social stigma, initially, we did not allow her to file an FIR against the accused.
