NAVI MUMBAI: A 26-year-old working as an office boy for a builder in New Panvel has been arrested for cheating his employer of Rs 4.93 lakh recently. The builder, Bhadresh Shah, had received two cheques of Rs 4 lakh and Rs 93,400 from two customers as booking amounts for purchasing flats.
The customers had told Shah not to deposit the cheques. So, Shah had given the cheques to the realty firm’s manager Divyashu Sharma who then kept it at the firm’s head office. The accused then stole the cheques and deposited them into his own account and later withdrew the money. The cops are also probing the involvement of the bank officials as the cheques were crossed and issued in favour of the builder’s firm. Senior inspector Yogesh More said, “The accused, Prafulla Kamblewas arrested on December 5, the day after an FIR was registered by Sharma.”
