South Africa vs Pakistan 2nd Test Day 3 highlights: South Africa need 41 runs to win

Kagiso Rabada picks up the final Pakistan wicket as Shaheen Afridi departs after scoring 14. Pakistan are all-out for 294 and South Africa need 41 runs to win. That's the final action from Day 3. 

A thick outside edge and Hashim Amla makes no mistake at first slip. Babar Azam walks back to the pavilion after playing a brilliant inning of 72 runs. PAK: 279/9 

Dale Steyn claims another wicket as a top edge coming off Yasir Shah's bat goes straight into the hands of Zubayr Hamza just inside the boundary ropes. Pakistan reach 247/8 as Mohammad Abbas walks out in the middle. Meanwhile, Babar Azam completes his half-century. 

Dale Steyn is all pumped up as Mohammad Amir falls into the trap. He nudges a bouncer and the ball touches his gloves and goes straight towards de Kock standing behind, who takes a brilliant catch. As Pakistan trail by 33 runs, South Africa are only three wickets away from victory.

Huge blow for Pakistan as Sarfraz Ahmed walks back to the pavilion after scoring 6 in 24 deliveries. Mohammad Amir comes to the crease and it seems he has done some damage to himself while trying to tap the ball. The physio is out in the middle. 

Pakistan lose their fifth wicket as a top edge coming off Fakhar Zaman's bat goes high in the air.  Kagiso Rabada calls for the catch and at the end comfortably takes it off his own bowling. Fakhar walks back to the pavilion after adding 7 runs on the scoreboard. Skipper Sarfraz Ahmed walks out in the middle as Pakistan reach 202/5.  

Asad Shafiq misses out on his century by just 12 runs as a faint knick goes straight into the gloves of de Kock. Vernon Philander strikes as Pakistan lose their fourth wicket. Fakhar Zaman walks out in the middle as Pakistan still trail by 59 runs. PAK: 195/4   

The batsmen are out in the middle to resume the Pakistan innings in the final session of the day.  Kagiso Rabada will start the proceedings for South Africa

It was a positive session for Pakistan as they scored 140 runs and lost just one wicket. On the other hand, South Africa who seemed on top after scalping two early wickets were seen toiling as the seamers failed to make an impact in the second session.  A brilliant 132-run stand between Asad Shafiq and Shan Masood, before Masood was sent back to the pavilion by Dale Steyn, has helped Pakistan recover as the visitors reached 177/3 at the tea break. Asad along with Babar Azam will resume the Pakistan innings as the duo would hope to carry forward the gained momentum.

The South African team is delighted as they finally break the 132-run stand between Shan Masood and Asad Shafiq. A fine outside edge coming off Masood's bat lands safely in the gloves of Quinton de Kock. Dale Steyn strikes as Pakistan lose their third wicket. PAK: 159/3

Shan Masood flicks a ball towards deep mid-wicket to bring up his half-century. Masood is playing on 54 after playing 99 deliveries. His innings include 8 fours. PAK 141/2  

Shan Masood and Asad Shafiq rebuild Pakistan innings after early blows as the visitors reach 109/2. Meanwhile, Asad also completes his half-century in 56 deliveries. His innings include 7 fours and 1 six.  

The umpire raises his finger as Shan Masood misses the ball and it hits his pads. The batsman takes a review and the ball-tracking technology shows that the ball was missing the stumps. Shan Masood survives as Pakistan retain their review. PAK: 81/2 

After losing two early wickets, Shan Masood and Asad Shafiq help Pakistan reach 70.  However, the visitors are still trailing by 184 runs.   

The batsmen have arrived in the middle as play resumes. Duanne Olivier will start the proceedings for South Africa as they look to capitalise after picking two early wickets. Pakistan are batting on 42/2 and are trailing by 212 runs. 

It's Lunch on Day 3 and South Africa will be the happier side going into the break. Pakistan walk into the break after scoring 37 for the loss of two wickets. Shan Masood is batting on 18, while his partner Asad Shafiq is on 5. Dale Steyn and Kagiso Rabada pick one wicket each.  

South Africa introduce Kagiso Rabada into the attack and the seamer strikes in his very first delivery. Azhar Ali walks back to the pavilion after being dismissed lbw for 6. Asad Shafiq is the new man at the crease. PAK: 27/2

Dale Steyn strikes as Pakistan lose their first wicket. Imam-ul-Haq walks back to the pavilion after scoring 6 runs. PAK: 10/1 

Pakistan openers Imam-ul-Haq and Fakhar Zaman are out in the middle. Vernon Philander will start the South African bowling attack. 

South Africa are bowled out for 431. Fakhar Zaman standing in the deep makes no mistake as Dale Steyn departs after scoring 13 in 10 deliveries.

South Africa lead by 254 runs

WICKET! Mohammad Amir on fire! He has cleaned up Kagiso Rabada for 11. South Africa go 408/9 with a lead of 231 runs.

The South African keeper can only add four more to his total. He scoops Amir to second slip and that is the end of his innings. 

South Africa have put Pakistan in a familiar place - a position of extreme pressure on the third Day of the second Test in the southern tip of the continent. Faf Du Plessis and Temba Bavuma ensured that they make the most of the conditions on the first day and that means now that Pakistan are facing the possibility of having to chase over 450 runs in the second innings.
