GPDPs received from most of Salcete VPs: BDO

Block development officer  (BDO), Salcete, Amitesh  Shirvoikar,  on  Friday, informed that  most of the panchayats from  Salcete have  sent their  Gramin  Panchayat Development Plans  (GPDPs) for the financial   year  2019-2020  to the  BDO office, for commencing  the process of execution.

Speaking to this daily, Shirvoikar  said, “Over  twenty  panchayats have sent their GPDPs. A few have adopted the last-prepared plans for this  financial year, while a  few others have combined the plans. The panchayats of Colva,  Rachol  and  Loutolim, however, did not send the GPDPs for the  financial  year 2019- 2020.”

The  state government is  in the process of preparing participatory GPDP  for the  next financial year. The  directorate of panchayats  has involved the panchayat committees for effective
planning.

Besides creating  awareness on how to plan and  how to make use of the  village resources, training to the  sarpanchas and panchayat secretaries  was imparted by the then  director of panchayats Ajit  Panchwadkar.

“Once these plans are  submitted to our  office, the panchayats  are asked to  prepare files  pertaining  to the works.  The  BDO office considers the files based on the certificates issued by the panchayat secretary that these  respective works are not proposed or taken up by other  agencies or  elected representatives. The execution of the works are then started,” he informed.
