UP: 80-year-old ailing woman raped, dies

Representative imageKANPUR: An 80-year-old bedridden woman died after she was allegedly raped by a neighbour in Kanpur on Thursday night. The accused, Amar in his early twenties, was arrested and booked on charges of rape and murder.
Family members of the old woman said she was suffering from multiple ailments and could not even speak or walk. "My mother could not resist or raise an alarm. Finding her room locked from inside, we repeatedly knocked at the door which was opened by Amar. When we rushed inside, she was lying in a pool of blood on her cot," the victim's son said.
"We took her to Ursula Horsman Hospital where doctors declared her dead," he said.
