“Power hungriness of a few leaders had led to the downfall of the Praja Rajyam Party (PRP) founded by my brother Chiranjeevi,” observed Jana Sena Party president Pawan Kalyan here on Saturday.
Addressing party workers from Prakasam district, Mr. Pawan Kalyan said he did not wish to land in a similar situation, which was the reason why he was treading cautiously in building the political organisation.
Stating that he was among those who had played an instrumental role in the establishment of the PRP, Mr. Pawan Kalyan said he had acquired a deep understanding of the political science, public policy, caste system, the philosophy of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and many other issues in order to wade through the rough and tumble of politics before casting himself in the new mould as founder of the JSP.
The PRP had come into existence to achieve social justice, but fizzled out due to the selfish agenda of a section of its leaders, he observed, and asserted that youth, not senior leaders, were the JSP’s backbone.
‘Youth backbone of JSP’
“JSP has no big leaders initially, and it still has youth as its backbone. A concerted effort should be made to realise the long-term objectives,” he said.
“Politics has become a business and caste vitiated the atmosphere to a large extent. I am told that contesting in elections requires ₹2,000 crore. But I am not worried about it. Leaders such as Kanshi Ram disproved of the theory that money matters the most in the political arena. He is an inspiration for me,” the JSP president stated, pointing out that it might take 25 long years to grow in politics.
Mr. Pawan Kalyan said he had never derived cent percent satisfaction in his acting career, but felt happy when he could solve the people’s problems. Sixty percent of the JSP candidates in the 2019 elections would be political novices, but would have done their homework well, he added.
