Amit Shah is scheduled to attend meetings with party leaders, ministers and MLAs to discuss strategies to capture the two Lok Sabha seats from the state. The party's choice of candidates is expected to be at the top of the agenda at these meetings. Party insiders informed that Chief Minister Biplab Deb has directed all party wing heads, MLAs and ministers to be prepared with suggestions to be presented before Shah. The BJP president has said the party targets to win at least 21 seats out of the 25 parliamentary constituencies of the northeast in the Lok Sabha polls in 2019. BJP-led Neda currently has 11 MPs from the northeast.
