ARA: A fake doctor served in Ara jail and treated the inmates for 14 months on the basis of fake documents.

Jail sources said his real identity was not exposed as the jail administration did not receive any complaint from the inmates. But his recent interaction with the jail superintendent Niranjan Kumar Pandit on some finer points of medical science and institutions exposed his coincidence.

The fake doctor, Dheeraj Kumar Dhiru, is absconding for the last one month ever since the jail administration asked him to submit all his original certificates.

The jail superintendent has informed the Bhojpur district administration and the jail IG about the alleged fraud. Bhojpur DM Sanjeev Kumar has constituted a three- member probe team to investigate the case.

A probe team led by ADM Surendra Prasad visited the jail on Thursday evening and scrutinized the relevant documents submitted by him. “The absconder had joined as a doctor in June, 2017. He presented his documents impersonating as a qualified doctor from Darbhanga Medical College and Hospital (DMCH). He resigned in January 2018 but rejoined in March and continued to work here till November. As there was no complaint by the jail inmates regarding his treatment, the fraud could not be detected,” Pandit said.

“We will soon lodge an FIR against him. We have also requested the DMCH authorities to verify his documents and certificates. However, when we contacted the actual Dr Dheeraj Kumar Dheeru working in a Delhi hospital, he said he had never applied for the said post at Ara jail and he is ready to appear before the authorities concerned whenever asked to do so.”
