Shocking moment a car drives down the street with a nappy-wearing child on the ROOF - and the infant's mother had no idea he was there for 10 minutes

A nappy-wearing child has been filmed riding on the top of a car for 10 minutes as his mother drives unaware her child is on the roof.

Footage obtained by Nine News shows a silver Holden travelling along in Harrisdale, Western Australia, just before 6pm on Friday. 

The shocking moment shows the toddler as the mother continues to drive through the streets oblivious to the fact that she didn't place her child in the car.

Other motorists attempted to alert the mother by flashing their lights and beeping at her but to no avail. 

The child may have been on top of the moving car for about 10 minutes, the publication reported.

'The child seemed fine and looked like he was enjoying himself,' a witness told Nine News.

Other witness said they felt 'sick to the stomach' after seeing the young child on the moving car.

Further footage showed police speaking to the mother after she stopped at a petrol station.
