The Indian Psychiatric Society (IPS) Telangana State branch in association with the Karimnagar Psychiatric Society (KPS) would be organizing the fourth mid-term CME programme on “Managing Refractoriness – From evidence and experience” here on Sunday.

Karimnagar MP B. Vinod Kumar along with IPS national president Mrugesh Vaisnav would inaugurated the CME programme. IPS Telangana State branch president D. Keshava Rao, secretary George Reddy, treasurer Gangaram and others would participate in the programme.

Disclosing this to newsmen here on Saturday, KPS district president K. Bhagya Reddy, secretary P. Kishan, district psychiatrists M. Praveen Kumar, K. K. Laxman, P. Sai Krishna and others said that eminent psychiatrists from entire country would attend and speak on various issues. Mental illness was curable by medicines, they said cautioning people against approaching quacks and magicians.

The mental illness is also an ordinary disease curable with medicines, they said and stressed on the need to launch awareness programmes on creating awareness among the people about approaching psychiatrists. They said that diabetes, high blood pressure and heart related diseases were being caused of mental illness and added that more than 40% patients were not approaching psychiatrists in the country.
