A search along the Geraldton coastline on Saturday has located kite surfer Matthew Wing, missing since Friday afternoon.

Mr Wing, who was visiting Geraldton, left Drummond Cove at 2.30pm intending to kite surf north towards Coronation Beach, but friends raised the alarm when he did not arrive there around 4pm as expected.

Fixed wing planes and helicopters and VMR, private and Surf Life Saving vessels searched the waters on Saturday morning as State Emergency Service volunteers and police searched land along the coast.

They found Mr Wing walking along the beach south of Bowes River.

He was to be met at the marina by St John Ambulance and taken to hospital for assessment.

Police are yet to speak to him to find out how he went off course.
