Boy playing outside home in Nathupur village mowed down by tractor

GURUGRAM: A tractor-trolley driver has been booked for causing death by negligence after he allegedly mowed down a nine-year-old boy in Nathupur village on Wednesday evening. The driver fled after the accident, leaving his vehicle behind which has been confiscated.

The boy has been identified as Alekh, a Class II student. Police said the accident took place around 5pm on Wednesday near Peer Baba Mazar where Alekh was playing along with his elder brother Harsh outside his home. The vehicle injured Alekh seriously, His mother, who was returning home, saw her son and rushed to the spot where a crowd had already gathered. She, along with the help of some villagers, rushed Alekh to Neelkanth Hospital where he was declared brought dead.


“The tractor driver snatched our happiness. My wife is in shock and we want stringent action against the driver,” said Bhuwan Jha, Alekh’s father. Jha works with a private firm. He has another son, Harsh, who is in Class V. Alekh studied in Class II.


Alekh’s mother Dolly Kumari, who is originally from Bihar, filed a complaint against the unidentified driver on Thursday at DLF 3 police station. On the basis of the complaint, the driver has been booked under sections 279 (rash driving), 304A (causing death by negligence) of the IPC.


“We handed over the body to the family after conducting an autopsy. We are trying to identify the accused driver and he will be arrested soon,” said ASI Naresh Kumar, the investigating officer.
