Speaker Kodela Siva Prasada Rao on Friday said it was time for assessing the performance of the State government with just about 100 days remaining for the general elections.
“Our party and government have worked hard through the last 1,700 days. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has achieved all-round development in spite of the adverse impact of bifurcation.
Being the elite who can influence the community, you should analyse and take the right decision. I assure you of quick growth and better realisations if the TDP retains power,” he told a gathering of the Confederation of Real Estate Developers’ Association of India (CREDAI), Vijayawada chapter, while inaugurating its 6th Property Show here.
Mr. Rao said he was not supposed to talk about politics, but had to mention the fact that it was the visionary leadership of Mr. Naidu that pulled the State out of the crisis precipitated by bifurcation, which was a political decision than a requirement.
He observed that in hindsight, bifurcation appeared to be good.
The Speaker said construction of apartments and gated communities had gained tremendous pace and scale across the State after bifurcation, but the demand and rates fetched by the realtors were not up to the mark due to the market volatility and issues faced by the buyers.
On its part, the State government would support CREDAI in every possible manner by being liberal in conceding genuine requests, like the one seeking exemption of constructions in dotted lands from various permits. The government decided to give ownership to those in possession of the dotted lands.
Mr. Rao stated that hasty implementation of demonetisation and Goods and Services Tax (GST) put businesses and common people to a lot of trouble.
The States were not against demonetisation and GST, but the Centre rolled them out with inadequate preparation. As a result, it landed itself in an embarrassing situation, he asserted.
CREDAI State president A. Siva Reddy said the problem with dotted lands and poor implementation of the building rules by the local bodies were to be sorted out by the State government.
Registration charges
Besides, the industry body was anticipating a reduction in the registration charges stipulated by the Real Estate (Development and Regulation) Act, 2016.
