Class X boy suffers head injuries; non-cognizable report lodged

A 15-year-old student was attacked with sticks and blunt objects by seniors after he refused to salute them.

Police have registered a non-cognisable report in the matter.

According to the police, the minor boy lives with his mother and an elder brother at Surajpur town in Greater Noida. He is studying Class X at a government school in the locality.

The incident occurred on Friday afternoon when the boy was on his way to buy a pencil from the stationary shop near the school. He was intercepted by 3-4 boys and they attacked him with sticks and blunt objects. The boy was injured on the head, said the police.

Repeatedly picked fight

The brother of the victim said that the same boys had intercepted the victim in the morning and told him to touch their feet as they were seniors, “The boys were standing at the gate while my brother was entering the school. They stopped him and asked why he did not salute them to which my brother did not react. Later, they asked him to touch the feet of one of them and when my brother denied, they threatened him,” said the victim’s brother.

He further added that this was the third time in the last two months that the same boys picked up a fight with the victim. “After today’s incident, we decided to approach the police,” he said.

Muneesh Chauhan, Station House Officer at Surajpur said that a non-cognizable report was registered against the 4 students under sections 323 and 504 for voluntarily causing hurt and intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace.

“After a complaint was received, a medical examination of the victim was conducted. Based on the findings, we have booked the four students. They have been called for questioning,” Mr. Chauhan said.
