NEW DELHI: Rishabh Pant on Friday became first Indian wicketkeeper to notch up a century against Australia in Australia in Tests.
The young wicketkeeper batsman took 137 balls to bring up his career's second Test century at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG).
Pant, who was batting on 96, brought up his maiden Test century on Australian soil in style, smashing Australian spinner Marnus Labuschagne towards midwicket for a boundary.
Before Pant, former India wicket-keeper Farokh Engineer held the record of highest score by an Indian stumper on Australian soil when he scored 89 runs in Adelaide in 1967.
Pant also became the only Indian wicket-keeper who has two Test centuries outside Asia. The Delhi lad scored a fine 114 against England at the Oval in September 2018.
