SC postpones hearing on Ayodhya-Babri case till January 10, fresh bench to hear matter

The Supreme Court today postponed the hearing on Ayodhya’s Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid case till January 10. Now a new bench will now hear the matter on January 10.

Last year in December, a Supreme Court bench headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi decided to fix the date of hearing before the appropriate bench and on the same day, Union Minister Prakash Javadekar said that the central government wants the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid title suit to be heard on day to day basis in the court.

On November 12, the Supreme Court bench headed by CJI Ranjan Gogoi rejected a plea seeking an early hearing in the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid title suit.

Earlier, in an interview to ANI this week, PM Narendra Modi had said that the government will consider bringing the ordinance on Ram temple construction only after the apex court gives the judgment in the case. The PM also blamed the Congress for stalling the hearing through their lawyers
