170 teams take part in ‘Avishkar’

PUNE: Around 170 teams from different universities participated in ‘Avishkar. ‘Avishkar’ was, a state-level research competition which had been organised by the Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) on Thursday. 

Among these 48 teams have now qualified to further participate in state-level competition which will be held at Gondwana University in Gadchiroli from January 15-17.

Innovative ideas from six different faculties were presented at the competition, which was inaugurated by Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU)  Vice-Chancellor, Nitin Karmalkar. Registrar Prafulla Pawar, Pro-VC NS Umarani and Avishkar organising committee’s president, Mohan Waman were also present on the occasion.

“We have received Rs 100 crore fund from Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) out of which Rs 15 crore will be used for research park. This park will be inaugurated on January 15. The innovative proposals which come from Avishkar will be taken up for further work at research part to invent a product from it,” said Karmalkar.

“In the past, many innovative ideas which evolved during Avishkar competition couldn’t make space in entrepreneurship level,” said Pawar. But now such innovative ideas are coming forward on university level. Those innovative ideas which have not been able to reach at state level but have potential ideas to make entrepreneurship, these ideas will be now promoted and supported by the university to take them forward to advance level of invention,” Pawar added.
