Kenya National Bureau of Statistics latest abstract reveals the population of elephants, buffaloes, giraffes and ostriches declining rapidly in recent times.
The growth trend observed after 2015 started seeing a reverse after a 2,000 reduction in numbers. The population climbed 6,200 to hit the 22,000 in 2016.
The Grant’s gazelle population fell to 106,500 from 112,100 in 2016.According to official data there was a gradual increase since 2013 when the numbered 111,700.
The number of zebra, impala , wildebeest saw a reduction in their population.
