No matter what the occasion or season, a classic smoky eye and slicked back ponytail will never go out of style. Kiara Advani recently incorporated the popular makeup look and hairstyle for a promotional appearance for her upcoming film, a Telugu feature titled Vinaya Vidheya Rama that releases next week. Her recent beauty choices confirmed one thing—the actor clearly has a thing for ponytails—she wore a messy romantic style for friend Isha Ambani’s wedding too.

Now you may not have Advani’s glam squad, but this look is super simple to do even if you’re pressed for time. (Bonus: it even works if your eyeliner is already a little smudged and you’re on third day hair.)

Start by flat-ironing your tresses from roots to ends. Apply hair gel in a quarter-sized amount to provide hold without leaving hair crunchy. Squeeze it on to fingertips and then rake it all through the hair, starting near the hairline to give it an all-over sheen.
