11,000kg of banned plastic products seized in Ramanathapuram district

Madurai: More than 11,000kg of plastics products have been seized from shops in Ramanathapuram district in the last three days.
Ramanathapuram district collector K Veera Raghava Rao on Friday held a review meeting on the plastic ban. He said that it was estimated that there were about 10,500 shops in the district. As many as 37 teams conducted inspections in 6,801 shops and 11,177 kilograms of banned plastic products were seized from them.
The collector said an additional 31 teams had been constituted to intensify checking in the shops in the coming days.
