Day-old baby found in open Belagavi fields

Photo for representative purpose onlyBELAGAVI: A day-old baby boy was found abandoned in freezing cold in sugarcane fields of Athani taluk in the district late Wednesday night.
Athani is hosting the annual Yallamma temple fair, and devotees camping in the area heard the faint cries of a baby, fanned out into the field in Kokatnur village and found the baby wrapped in a piece of cloth.
They took the baby to Athani taluk government hospital, where he is said to be safe. The place where the baby was found is a few hundreds of metres from the bustling Yallamma temple.
