Agra: 19-year-old girl says she was raped, medical report rules it out

AGRA: A day after a 19-year-old girl alleged that she was raped by two youths at Kitham village under Achnera police jurisdiction, her medical report on Friday stated “there is no sign of sexual assault”.
According to a report by Dr Neelam Rani of the district woman hospital, Agra who examined the girl on Thursday evening, the victim had “no sign suggestive of sexual violence. Pathology and forensic examination report are awaited”.
After the medical examination, TOI spoke to girl’s relative who alleged that she was gang-raped. The survivor’s cousin claimed, “The girl told us that she was gagged and abducted by two youths on January 1 morning while she was on her way to the fields. She was later raped in a field. In the evening, the accused threatened to set her afire if when she said she would report about the act. The accused men even burned her clothes. On January 2, the girl managed to get some clothes from a temple premises and returned home to narrate her ordeal.”
On Thursday night, based on victim’s written complaint, Achnera police booked the two youths under IPC sections 376D (gang rape), 366 (abducting woman to compel her for marriage), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 201 (causing disappearance of evidence of offence, or giving false information to screen offender) and 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation).
Later, police detained one of the accused, who is the survivor’s neighbour.
Speaking to superintendent of police (rural west) Akhilesh Narayan Singh said, “Probe is still underway. The survivor is getting her statement recorded before a judicial magistrate.”
