CPI(M) State secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan has accused the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and the BJP of attempting to scare women by resorting to violence.
Mr. Balakrishnan told reporters here on Thursday that the RSS and BJP were rattled by the participation of women in the women’s wall organised here on January 1 and were now trying to thwart their entry to public life. Unlike in other States such attempts would not work here and the people have rejected the hartal called by the Sabarimala Karma Samithi, he said.
The Sangh Parivar that called a string of hartals during the past three months was getting isolated. The protesters were using country bombs and targeting shops and also families of police officers to demoralise them.
Entry welcomed
BJP leader and Delhi MP Udith Raj welcomed the entry of women to Sabarimala. His statement is a reply to the BJP State president on Sabarimala.
United Democratic Front MPs have urged the Centre to issue an Ordinance to overcome the Supreme Court verdict on Sabarimala. Prime Minister Narendra Modi would use it for Ayodhya, he said.
