The 111-year-old seer of Siddaganga Mutt, Shivakumara Swami, was shifted to Siddaganga Hospital in Tumakuru on Thursday.

He is being treated for lung infection in the Intensive Care Unit of the hospital as there was the risk of contracting infections in the mutt owing to visitors, the doctors said.

Dr. Subramanian, senior consultant from Chennai, visited the mutt along with gastroenterologist of BGS Global Hospital, Dr. Ravindra and examined the seer on Thursday evening.

Dr. Subramanian told reporters that the infection in the lungs had reduced.

Earlier, the seer’s personal physician Dr. Paramesh said the seer was showing improvement. There is still infection in the lungs and the water accumulated in the lungs is being removed once in two days, he added.
