Nisargadhama procures electric vehicles

MANGALURU: Dr Shivarama Karnath Pilikula Nisargadhama has gone the green way by procuring electric vehicles. The nisargadhama has dipped into Rs 1 crore grants given to it by the state government through the Malnad Area Development Board and Coastal Development Authority to purchase environment-friendly vehicles, and these will be dedicated for public use in front of the box office of the Nisargadhama at 3.30pm on Saturday.

Visitors coming to the nisargadhama may hop on to these buggies at the parking lot next to the box office after purchasing the entry ticket priced at Rs 25 for adults and Rs 10 for children, and visit various units on the sprawling 300+ acre facility. The buggy offers hop-on hop-off facility for visitors on the day of their visit, and has been introduced in view of the ban imposed on all types of vehicles from entering the area for security reasons.

City or mofussil buses going to Yedurupadavu inside Pilikula Nisargadhama henceforth have to come to the main entrance, take a U-turn there and proceed towards Yedurupadavu via the Moodushedde road, rather than the road passing through the nisargadhama. However, residents of Yedurupadavu and adjoining areas may use the road passing through the nisargadhama after obtaining prior permission from the nisargadhama authorities.

In special circumstances, buses hired by educational institutions for excursion purposes too will be allowed to enter the nisargadhama with prior permission from the authorities, and after paying the parking fee. Such vehicles must strictly be parked in designated areas.
